Vintage Women's Watches

|
"Tell more than time ... wear a vintage watch."
Vintage Women's Wrist watches have a timeless appeal. In their day they were an unmistakable element of functionality and fashion. Today they stand out even more against a world of black rubber-banded watches or "trendy", unproven, just want to be different, ugly stuff. Why wouldn't a woman want to dress the part? I know these watches to be so well made that they will eventually catch up to their male counterpart in collectable value (men's watches from the 40's and 50's are highly collectable). Their beauty places them along side most any piece of jewelry. They can be subtle or stunning, understatedly elegant or boldly expressive. Our watches have been cleaned and ordered and are sold with our one year guarantee. Buy with confidence! Wear with joy! They are delightful. Note: there are usually several different possibilities for bands from the traditional, classy black cord (several other colors available), to the practical stretch band. Ask for that which you might like to compliment your new old watch.
A note to the discriminating individual: This website is devoted to you and whatever needs or wants you may have for vintage timepieces. I know you have many questions, as these watches are mostly from a time before you can remember. Please let me know what I can do to answer those questions. I have over 300 women's watches available. Each is different from the next. There seems to have been no end to the creativity used in crafting these wonderful watches. If you have special needs, I am confident I can assist you. Here are some questions you might answer for yourself:
Yellow, White or Rose gold?
Solid gold (14K or 18K) or Gold Filled? (Gold filled is two layers of solid gold with another material layered between. The case is then formed from this sheet giving a good layer of solid gold with a more solid base underneath)
Size? Most are about the size of a nickel. Consider your eyesight in this. Also some dials and numerals are a little more readable than others. I can help with this, but you probably know what I mean.
Would you like embedded gems? Some have mounted stones, even diamonds. There are even some with matching bands having gems mounted as well.
Strap (band) choices: Corded in many colors; braided metal in yellow and white gold; leather will work on some; grosgrain and nylon or other cloth will work on some; the old "scissors" stretch band will work on most with many styles to choose from.
From 1900 to about 1930 most women's watches were fairly large (quarter size) and had some simple engraving. The 1930's and 40's saw a diminution in size and an amazing assortment of shapes. The 1950's and 60's brought a streamlining and in some cases a simplification of style to even a sparse look at times. These are very general trends. At all times there were both simple and very elegant watches depending on the individual and her needs.
Are you willing to wind a watch? To own a little machine that depends on you to give it life is part of a lifestyle. Most people who like mechanical watches find it a delight to spend a moment considering time itself, which is just what happens when you wind a watch. Probably we all could stand to be a little more thoughtful of our days on earth. And the interplay between you and your watch is intriguing ... your watch depends on you and in turn you depend on your watch.
These are some of the things to consider, but I know we can find a watch that is just right for you! Take a look and contact me if I can help in any way. Thank you.
A note to the "collector/dealer": I am here for the discriminating person looking for a quality watch -no matter the "collectable" value. You collectors determine value based on your own standards, usually "How much money can I get for this?". I and my clients usually have different standards than yours, and the value of these timepieces is inherent in the watch itself, not in what you might deem collectable. I am sorry that I cannot always accommodate both you and them at the same time, but I am happy when I can. Let me know what your needs might be.
